A book in the form of an exhibition
einBuch.haus is a project gallery based in Berlin. The central exhibition ethos is to showcase a book in the form of an exhibition (in German: ‘Ein Buch in Form einer Ausstellung’) thereby transferring the form of a book into three-dimensional spaces. A building is constructed from a blueprint, a frame and various materials to consecrate its being. A book, too, has its own systematic structure. The interactions between text, layout, and texture constitutes a book.
Exhibition programmes feature international artists and designers whose work responds to the medium of artists’ books. Starting from the content and material production of a book, einBuch.haus collaborates with the artists to develop the exhibition into various media and presentations. With an interdisciplinary approach, einBuch.haus highlights and enhances both the visual and tactile aspects of the reading experience.
Complementing the exhibitions, einBuch,haus also hosts events such as artist talks and workshops to facilitate enthusiasm from the local community for artist books. A curated selection of experimental books, chiefly from Asia and Europe, can be found in our bookshop.
Since 2022, einBuch.haus has also been operating as a publishing house and publishing exhibitions in book format.
ein Buch in Form einer Ausstellung
Die Kunstbuch-Plattform einBuch.haus überträgt bei ihren Ausstellungskonzepten die Form eines Buches in den dreidimensionalen Raum: Ein Gebäude setzt sich aus einem Bauplan, einer Struktur sowie diversen Materialien zusammen, um ein Gebäude zu werden. Auch ein Buch hat eine ganz eigene systematische Struktur. Das können Text, Raster und Textur sein, um ein Buch zum Buch werden zu lassen.
einBuch.haus zeigt regelmäßig Ausstellungen von internationalen Künstler*innen und Designer*innen, die sich spezifisch mit dem Medium Künstlerbuch auseinandersetzen. Jede Ausstellung nimmt den Inhalt und die Materialität eines Buchs zum Ausgangspunkt und entwickelt diese in verschiedenen Medien und Formaten weiter. Mit diesem interdisziplinären Ansatz werden sowohl visuelle als auch haptische Aspekte des Leseerlebnisses kommuniziert und ermöglicht.
Begleitend zu den Ausstellungen veranstaltet einBuch.haus Artist Talks und Workshops und bietet eine kuratierte Auswahl experimenteller Bücher, insbesondere aus Asien und Europa, im angeschlossenen Bookshop an.
Seit 2022 ist einBuch.haus auch als Verlag tätig und publiziert Ausstellungen im Buchformat.
