Anthropophyta
von Artist book
A collection of works by Sae Honda, a jewelry artist living in Amsterdam.
This work, Anthropophyta, presents a new value of familiar objects from the unique perspective of analyzing artificial plants, which are widely spread in our daily lives, assuming that they are formal botany.
This book is a semi-fictional botanical illustrated book that mixes fiction and reality, starting with a story that the author made up herself: "Artificial plants have been officially recognized as plants in botany".
Artificial plants, which stand quietly in the corner of a room or on a street corner, seeking neither water nor light, have not been scientifically studied or observed like natural plants, but continue to reproduce in our daily lives secretly and surely. Intrigued by these undiscovered plants, Honda began collecting and observing artificial flowers around her, and traveled to Guangzhou, China, where there are many artificial plant factories. This book is a humorous summary of her visit to the Guangzhou plant and her observations of the 70 artificial leaves she collected, in an academic style.
